Cuktech's "15" series includes three slightly different power banks that cater to demanding users: the standard Cuktech 15, the less-featured SE variant and the newer Cuktech 15 Ultra. While the SE exists within the same product family, this analysis focuses specifically on the standard and Ultra models - both of which we’ve reviewed and tested extensively. Here’s what you need to know if you're choosing between the two.

Performance and Charging Capabilities

The key difference lies in power delivery. The Cuktech 15 Ultra supports USB PD 3.1, offering up to 140W from a single USB-C port—ideal for high-wattage laptops like the 16-inch MacBook Pro, powerful Windows ultrabooks, or gaming notebooks. It also allows for dual-input fast charging up to 165W, letting you top up 70% of the battery in just 20 minutes when connected to two power sources simultaneously. This is a real game-changer for professionals on the move who need to keep devices topped up quickly between meetings or flights.

In contrast, the standard Cuktech 15 offers 100W PD 3.0 output (or up to 120W with Xiaomi HyperCharge) and a 90W max input. It’s fast enough for most laptops and mobile devices but lacks the headroom and charging redundancy of the Ultra. That said, for ultrabooks, tablets, and phones, 100W is already well above average and ensures compatibility with a wide range of devices.

It’s worth noting that in real-world testing, both models experience the typical conversion losses common in high-capacity power banks. While both are advertised as 20,000 mAh units, their effective output at 5V is closer to 11,500 mAh, due to energy lost during voltage step-up from the internal 3.7V cells to the 5V (or higher) required by most USB devices. This is a well-known but rarely acknowledged reality in power bank marketing, and to Cuktech’s credit, they actually list these usable capacities at the bottom of their product pages—a level of transparency that’s still uncommon in the industry.

In our previous testing across the CUKTECH 10, 15, and 20 models, we consistently found these real-world capacities to be accurate. For example, the V10 yielded roughly 1.2 full phone charges, the V15 about 2, and the V20 around 2.2, even with the devices remaining in use during charging. These results align well with the rated 5V capacities and provide a realistic expectation of what you’ll get from each charge cycle.

Display and Design

The Ultra comes equipped with a 1.3" TFT screen that displays live charging stats, including wattage, voltage, protocol type, temperature, and battery level. This isn’t just eye candy - being able to confirm exactly how your devices are being charged (or if they're throttling) is invaluable for tech-savvy users or anyone managing a multi-device setup.

The standard Cuktech 15 keeps things simple with a basic LED percentage indicator, which is less informative but perfectly functional for general use. It’s also lighter (about 452g vs. the Ultra's 590g) and has a slightly slimmer profile, making it easier to slip into a tech pouch or everyday bag without adding too much bulk. Both models stand upright and have a sturdy build, but the Ultra feels more premium and purpose-built for demanding environments.

For those concerned about long-term durability, the Ultra includes nine-layer circuit protection and features a heat-resistant structural layout. The standard model still performs well but can warm up noticeably during 100W output scenarios over 30+ minutes, especially if used in warm environments like a backpack on the go.

Port Layout and Compatibility

Both models feature 2x USB-C and 1x USB-A ports, with strong support for fast-charging standards across brands (PD, PPS, QC, SCP, FCP, and more). However, the Ultra stands out by delivering up to 65W from its second USB-C port, allowing simultaneous high-speed charging of two power-hungry devices like a laptop and a gaming handheld. This makes it ideal for mobile content creators, digital nomads, and on-location professionals who can’t afford slowdowns.

The standard model’s second USB-C port is limited to around 33W, which is still plenty for phones, tablets, or even handheld consoles like the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck. For single-laptop use or mixed device charging, it gets the job done efficiently without the extra cost or weight.

In terms of compatibility, both models support low-power charging for devices like Bluetooth earbuds or fitness trackers—something many high-wattage banks fail at. You can long-press the power button on the Ultra to enable a trickle-charge mode, which keeps low-draw devices from triggering the auto-off feature.

Real-World Use

We previously reviewed the CUKTECH 10, CUKTECH 15, and CUKTECH 20 power banks several months ago. All three delivered excellent performance in our tests—fast charging, wide compatibility, and well-thought-out designs. However, two out of three (the 10 and 20 variants) failed within a year, despite only being lightly used. After leaving them unused for about a month, both units refused to charge or turn on, stuck at 0% permanently. This raises real concerns about long-term reliability and battery management, especially for users who plan to store these power banks as backup units.

  • While the CUKTECH 15 standard model has held up well, this experience suggests a potential quality control or power management flaw in some units. For critical applications or long-term backup use, users should be aware of this possibility and avoid letting these power banks fully discharge or sit unused for extended periods.

  • If you're a power user - someone who juggles laptops, tablets, cameras, and phones throughout the day - the Cuktech 15 Ultra is a better investment. The ability to handle simultaneous high-speed charging and refill itself rapidly between sessions makes it ideal for work, travel, and field use.

  • If you mainly charge phones, tablets, Bluetooth gear, or a single laptop, and don’t need PD 3.1 or dual charging input, the standard Cuktech 15 delivers excellent performance without the added cost.

Additionally, if weight and portability are critical - say for commuters or travellers packing light - the smaller footprint of the standard model becomes a real advantage.

For users who leave the power bank plugged into a wall charger while powering devices (pass-through charging), the Ultra performs better, maintaining output stability while charging itself.

Final Thoughts

Both models punch above their weight, but your use case will determine which offers better value. The Ultra is overkill for casual users but a game-changer for professionals, content creators, and tech enthusiasts who demand speedю The standard Cuktech 15 remains one of the most capable 100W-class power banks for the price and is more than enough for the majority of users.

That said, as we’ve experienced firsthand, long-term reliability may be a consideration, especially if you plan to leave these unused for extended periods. While the Ultra and standard 15 offer impressive performance, they’re best treated as active-use tools rather than passive emergency backups.

Choose the Ultra if you need top-tier specs, faster dual-input recharging, better thermal performance, and real-time diagnostics.

Choose the standard if you want high-end performance at a better price-to-performance ratio and don’t need dual-device high-speed charging.

Either way, you're getting one of the most advanced portable chargers on the market. Both are well-built, highly compatible, and designed for serious mobile power users, just keep them in active rotation to help ensure long-term reliability.
